Life moves so fast

It’s been a while cince I blogged, eh? I just noticed that my blog entries are getting less and less frequent. :( Oh God so much has happened in the past few weeks…

My grandfather died. I don’t know the specifics, and my parents didn’t really tell me, but I know he had a stroke. I bawled my head off for about half an hour. What made it even sadder was the fact that some of his last words were that he regretted not seeing me before his death. I really, really don’t deserve such loving grandparents. I’ve changed so much since the last time he’s seen me… which was five and a half years ago. I don’t think I’m exactly the typical, perfect granddaughter anymore (not that I’m a monster or anything). May he R.I.P..

What else has happened… oh, yes, I’m doing well in school. In fact, My average is about 10% higher than it was last year at the same time. I don’t think I work that much harder, only smarter. Not making stupid little mistakes during tests is absolutely crucial to getting good grades.

My mom and I have been fighting a lot this week. We just had a huge fight yesterday. As always, it started out as something small, then grew to reach the same intensity as that of a tornado’s. What a horrible metaphor. :( In the end, we sort of made up, which means we pretended that it never happened.

Yesterday was Halloween, durh. I went trick-or-treating as MINNIE MOUSE. My costume was so epic; I’ve got to post it here! And I will… someday. I know, I know, I’m fifteen and a little old for trick-or-treating, but when it comes to candy, I can never say no. I went to my friend’s house because her neighbourhood gives out a lot of candy. :3 There were nine of us in total. It’s pretty funny to watch people’s reactions as they open the door to see a huge mob of teenagers yell “Trick or treat!” to their faces. Afterward, we dumped all our candy on my friend’s living room floor and traded crap candies for more favourable ones. Since we had such different tastes, I ended up with mostly candy that I like.

I’m planning on going trick-or-treating every Halloween until I turn eighteen. Yes, taking advantage of generous people and weird holidays… that’s me.

Cross-country season ended. I’ve We did very well in the competitions. The top two teams in each division gets to go to OFSAA (province-wide competition that everyone wants to participate), and you’ve guessed it—we came in third. Really disappointing, but I guess there’s always next year? Nowadays I’m always itching to run. It’s like I have all this pent up energy and I don’t know where to release it. I think I’m going to join cross-country skiing this year. I’ve only ever cross-country skied once, but the team members are really friendly and supportive, so I’m sure I’ll have fun (even if I do embarrass myself).

I got the H1N1 vaccine today. There’s been a lot of controversy over it and I really don’t know which side I’m on, but my mom believes in flu shots so she made me go. I don’t really mind though. My only complaints are that it took an entire morning and now my arm kind of hurts.

Sorry, I’ve been kind of slow on returning comments, and I’ve been neglecting all my wonderful affiliates. I promise I will visit you guys more often. And I apologize for the random blog; it’s kind of all over the place with no specific topic.

Questions:

  • What did you do on Halloween?
  • Did you get the swine flu vaccine?

Sorry for the lame questions, but you’re not supposed to just read them and not the blog, remember?

Having fun being busy

Life has been hectic, and I just haven’t found the time to blog. It’s been half a month since my last entry. There’s so much to say, yet so little time to say everything. I haven’t been able to get back to a bunch of the comments. I’m really sorry, but I promise I will today. Anyways, this blog entry will basically be a compilation of all the things I did in the past two weeks.

I’ve had crazy amounts of homework. All because of my stupid, stupid, and totally unbalanced schedule. I have the hard subjects with the hard teachers that give a lot of homework this semester, but next semester will be a breeze!

Other than homework, I’ve been going out with my friends a lot. I’ve been mini golfing, shopping (multiple times), bubble tea drinking (FIRST TIME EVER), dancing, sleeping over, and just hanging out. I’m glad I’ve been able to make time for my social life. If it was last year, I would have done all that stuff in two months, not two weeks. I don’t know why, but I was kind of anti-social last year. :P

I’ve also spent a lot of time reading. I’m halfway through Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. I usually find books with no obvious plot a total bore, but the little stories of happiness and hope made the book irresistible for me. I’m a sucker for happy, bubbly, joyful tales. :P

I also read a non-fiction book for school. I rarely ever read non-fiction books because, well, non-fiction is about real life, and real life is boring. That’s my philosophy, at least. Luckily, the book I picked was funny, interesting, and far from boring. It’s called Stick Figure and is told in the perspective of the author, Lori Gottlieb, at age eleven. After witnessing almost every female around her, including her mother, her classmates, and people in the media, obsess over their weight, she becomes anorexic. I’ve read a bunch of books on eating disorders, and I enjoy them all. And no, I don’t have a eating disorder. The other book we’re reading for English class is Lord of the Flies. We’re only on chapter two, so I can’t judge yet, but based on the synopsis provided by our teacher, it sounds like a pretty interesting book. I’ve always wanted to know what people would do if they were stranded in a deserted island in the middle of nowhere. A few students in my class who have read the book before gave me a bunch of spoilers. It seems as if this book won’t be as happy-go-lucky as Little Women. Maybe a little too realistic for my taste? I like hiding from the grueling truths of reality.

Last but not least, I’ve read three Dear Dumb Diary books. I don’t know why not everyone is reading them (why does that sentence sound weird?). It is the cutest, most hilarious series ever. Plus the books are incredibly short, and there are funny illustrations accompanying each diary entry.

Oh yes, I bought some stuff while shopping, obviously. Hope you guys don’t mind me listing them out. ^^ I got a kit with all these Gillette Venus stuff (razor, body wash, deodorant, and some weird hair towel thing). I also got some makeup (liquid eyeliner, lip gloss, and concealer), a pretty black bubble dress, and shoes. They were white peep toe slingbacks with a cute bow on the front. I love them! The heels are a little high for school though, so I think I’ll wear them for special occasions. Everything I got was on sale, so I don’t feel too bad for getting so much stuff. Hm, I never seem to get things that aren’t on sale… I guess that’s a good thing?

Me in my black bubble dress My white peep toe slingbacks :)
(I love my purchases enough to take pictures of them and upload them on my blog! I even edited the dress in Photoshop. :O I’ve got to learn to be less materialistic… Oh and ignore the white dots in the dress picture… they were on my mirror.)

You have no idea how long it took me to write this entry. Way too long. I’ve never spent so long writing a blog entry; they usually just flow out of me. Now that I’m finally done, I will respond to comments and go eat dinner. Yay!

EDIT: I totally forgot about questions! I’ll add them now.

Questions:

  1. Have you read any of the books I’m reading? Did you like them?
  2. Do you pay a lot of attention to your appearance?
  3. How was Thanksgiving Day? (This question only applies to Canadians)
